    Made it to Hot Springs today. No cell service and on a slow computer, so no new pictures and possibly no new updates for the next couple days. Finally starting to do 20 miles regularly, so finally time to make up some ground.

    Had a lot of trail magic yesterday. (trail magic being any kind deed done to a hiker) food from 2 different people was much appreciated.

      Loved your pic of the Smokeys. Guess that’s why they call them that, but yesterday AM, from the top of Cove Mountain, the valleys looked like they were filled with whipped cream

      It was 95 on the AT in PA yesterday. Thought I was gonna die. Made my 22 miles, though

    Only with thru hikers would someone else finish eating before me. From the plates hitting the table to being cleaned, 10 words were spoken.

    Toe injury made me stay in town a 2nd day. But some friends who were behind are here now so I can hang out with them. And split a room.

    Waking up at 4am – free.
    Hiking 3 miles at night – free.
    Watching sunrise from Clingmans Dome, highest point on the #AT – priceless.

    Left my rain jacket at the last shelter. Fail. Fortunately I’ll be in Gatlinburg tomorrow and can pick up a new one.

    Dinner tonight: ramen and spam. Spramen. Not as good as last night, but this shelter has a skylight! Also saw a bobcat and a deer today.

    Not 2 miles into the Smokies and I see a bear with two cubs. Cool cool cool.
